Replacing a car battery is one of the easier tasks you can do yourself concerning your vehicle. A combination wrench and a socket wrench with various sized sockets should be all you need. Simply start by making sure the vehicle is off and raise the hood. The next thing to do is the most important thing to remember. When you start to take off the cables with the wrench or socket, always take off the black cable first.
The black cable signifies the negative feed, and the red cable is the positive. If you try to take off the red/positive cable first, you might get a shock. Not enough to send you to the hospital, but for the purpose of always working safely, always take off the black/negative cable first. From there, you simply lift the battery out of its tray and put in the new one starting with the red/positive cable first.
